Volkor X - Beacon (Street Cleaner Remix)

The BIG ONE! I was in disbelief when I was given the opportunity to remix a Volkor X track. A real “pinch me” moment. I really don’t have to explain to anyone reading this who and what Volkor X is so I’ll just jump into explaining this remix.
This was the first time I had ever changed the tempo of a song I was remixing. Beacon is a long slow-burn of a track in it’s original form, part of a fantastic narrative concept album. Taken out of that context I felt that the tempo could stand to increase a little bit. I was experimenting with a new to me plugin at the time called Massive X and I used that to build the bassline, meanwhile I was in my “Allergic to snare drums” phase so a snare drum doesn’t even make an appearance until over two minutes into the song, and ends up being an acoustic one at that. I also broke another one of my rules by making the hi hats, rides, and crashes do unrealistic things.
This was a big highlight for me. Being able to work with one of darksynth’s heaviest hitters was an honor. Please head over to Volkor X’s bandcamp and stand awestruck at the spectacle that is Volkor X, a real sight to behold (With your ears too).
